We’re excited to share that the Infinite Portal No. 1 Mosaic Damascus Chef Knife has officially sold at auction for $5,300! This one-of-a-kind piece marked the beginning of John Phillips' journey into the intricate art of Mosaic Damascus steel, and it garnered incredible interest from collectors and knife enthusiasts alike.
Crafted with over 100 hours of meticulous work, the knife featured a stunning portal pattern forged from high-carbon steel, complemented by a rare Moroccan thuya burl handle. It was more than just a chef knife—it was a true work of art.
Proceeds from the auction are going toward the production of John’s upcoming hardcover book, which will detail his journey as a knifemaker, featuring personal stories, behind-the-scenes insights, and breathtaking photography from Phillips Forged and Primeaux Kitchen Knives. We’re also proud to share that 10% of the auction proceeds will be donated to the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths, supporting underrepresented communities in preserving the ancient craft of blacksmithing.
